Fresh Horizons has won Arts Council funding to build a cinema in the local library.

Fresh Horizons was one of only 10 organisations to win funding and will install a fully working cinema in the Chestnut Centre in Huddersfield.

The local community will choose which films are shown, as well as learning film-making techniques and shooting short films of their own.

Mike McCusker, director of Fresh Horizons, said: "The idea is to put the Chestnut Centre at the heart of culture and arts in our area.

“This project is about finding new income streams and helping local libraries to be financially viable.”
